I/O-free libraries underneath
Every app is a thin frontend over reusable crates. Protocol logic lives in sans-I/O coroutine libraries: no sockets opened, no TLS imposed, no async runtime chosen for you. You drive them with your own I/O: std or no_std, sync or async, desktop or Android.
Free software, kept working against real servers
The code is the cheap part. Keeping it working is what costs, and it costs every year:
- Every server has quirks. Each one is a support ticket before it is a bug report.
- OAuth is a compliance project. Gmail needs a verified app and a yearly security audit; Microsoft 365 a verified publisher.
- The protocols keep moving. Basic auth is gone, Exchange Web Services is retiring: code breaks on someone else’s schedule.
- For email providersYou host mail, contacts or calendars for your users. Your servers in our test suite, your users set up with one address.
- For integratorsYou ship a product built on the Himalaya CLI or the Rust libraries. Your workflows in our test suite, a version line that does not move under you.
