Terms of Use

Last updated: 7 November 2026

These terms apply to your use of the apps published by the Pimalaya project: the Android app and the command-line, terminal and desktop clients that connect to your mail, contacts and calendar accounts (the "apps"). How the apps handle your data is described in the privacy policy.

The software

The apps are free and open-source software. Each is licensed as its repository states, most under either the MIT license or the Apache License, Version 2.0, at your option; their source code is available at https://github.com/pimalaya. The license governs copying, modifying and redistributing an app, and nothing in these terms restricts a right it grants.

No account, no service

Using the apps needs no account with the Pimalaya project, and the project runs no server between the apps and your providers. An app connects only to the servers you configure, with the credentials you give it, as the privacy policy lists.

Your providers

The accounts you connect (Google, Microsoft, Fastmail or any other) stay governed by their providers' own terms and policies, which still bind you when you use them through the apps. The apps are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of these providers.

Purchases

The apps are free to download from their repositories. Some may also be sold through a store, such as the Android app on Google Play, while staying free elsewhere. A purchase made through a store, its payment and its refund are governed by that store's terms, such as the Google Play Terms of Service.

Your use

You are responsible for the accounts you connect and for what you send through the apps, and you agree not to use them to break the law or your providers' terms.

No warranty

The apps are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, as their licenses state. They change data both on your device and on your servers, and a defect can alter or delete that data: keep a copy of what you cannot afford to lose. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Pimalaya project and its contributors are not liable for any damage arising from the use of the apps, loss of data included.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes are published on this page, and the "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision.
